Description We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team in Portland, Maine. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will handle critical billing functions, manage collection processes, and ensure effective communication with insurance providers. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process medical billing and insurance claims
• Maintain detailed records of customer billing and account information
• Efficiently handle ICD-10 medical coding tasks to ensure accurate billing
• Monitor customer accounts and initiate appropriate actions as needed
• Resolve customer inquiries related to medical billing and coding
• Implement collection processes for outstanding payments
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure smooth operations
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations and policies
• Ensure all billing functions comply with legal and ethical standards
• Communicate effectively with insurance providers to resolve any discrepancies in payment. Requirements
• Proficient in handling billing functions within a healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated experience in collection processes in a medical environment.
• Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures and practices.
• Proficiency in medical coding, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Ability to work with various billing software and electronic health record systems.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations and medical terminology.
• Proven ability to maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA guidelines.
• Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with patients, insurance companies, and medical staff.
