Position : CMT Lab Technician

Location : Portland, OR

We are seeking a CMT Lab Technician to join our Portland, OR team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare samples of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials for laboratory testing, following standard procedures.

  • Conduct laboratory tests such as Atterberg limits, grain size analysis, Proctor compaction tests, unconfined compressive strength tests, and concrete compression testing.

  • Utilize testing equipment such as ovens, sieves, compaction molds, and testing machines to analyze material properties.

  • Record test data accurately and maintain detailed logs of all testing activities.

  • Analyze test results to assess material properties such as strength, durability, density, and moisture content.

  • Compare test results against project specifications and industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.) to ensure compliance.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of all test results, samples, and correspondence related to testing activities.

  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.

  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and within specified tolerances.

  • Implement corrective actions for any identified non-conformances or testing irregularities.

  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing, quality control, or a related field.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.

  • Work independently with limited supervision.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Technical requirements:

  • Relevant certifications such as ACI (American Concrete Institute) Lab Testing Technician, Strength Testing Technician, NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) in Construction Materials Testing, or equivalent

  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems and trade practices is required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and effectively communicate findings.

Compensation:

$25 - $35 hourly

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
