Farmer Brothers Machine Operator - Grave Shift (Sun-Thurs 11pm to 7:30am) in Portland, Oregon

Please note this is a grave shift: Sunday - Thursday 11pm to 7:30am.

The Machine Production Operator position requires the skills to operate and maintain various types of equipment including material handling and coffee flavoring. The employees in these positions must be able to exercise independent judgment and decisions on mechanical and quality aspects of the machinery and/or product.

Responsibilities

  • Observes filling, marking, labeling, taping, packing, or wrapping containers.

  • Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions.

  • Performs adjustments or repairs, such as opening valves, changing forming and cutting dies, setting guides, temperature controls, moisture, and other machine related functions.

  • Records and inspects all quality checks in computer dbase and weights and other related quality standard specifications.

  • Ensures all aspects of quality standard are met and performs all quality checks and adjustments recording data.

  • Lubricates, sanitizes equipment, performs troubleshooting, minor mechanical adjustments, and preventive maintenance.

  • Ability to calculate mathematical numbers for data entries on required process monitors, quality specifications, and use of computer for data entries.

  • Ensure operator schedules, tea blending matrix, coffee transports are followed correctly.

  • Perform inventory cycle counts on raw and packaging material.

  • Operate a forklift and/or manual or automated hand jack.

  • Record downtime data, tea blends, dumps, first case checks on required process monitor.

  • Responsible for all quality aspects of the product to ensure it meets quality standards.

  • Operator machinery following proper safety standards and knowledge of lock out tag out procedures.

  • Job function may be designated according to a specific function performed by the machine tended.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of High School or GED degree

  • Minimum of a certificate or license for Forklift Operator preferred

  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • At least 1 year of Forklift experience preferred

Professional & Personal Skillsets

  • Ability to use a manual or automated pallet jack preferred.

  • Ability to endure long periods of standing, walking, climbing stairs, and sufficient physical strength and ability to push, pull, and lift heavy objects.

  • Ability to calculate mathematical numbers for data entries on required process monitors, quality specifications, and use of computer for data entries.

  • Knowledge of tools, machines, and safety precautions in an industrial industry.

  • Ability to use knowledge, creativity, and initiative in recommending or implementing improvements in efficiency or safety aspects of the work area or machines.

  • Ability to calculate mathematical numbers for data entries on required process monitors, quality specifications, and use of computer for data entries.
