Job Title: QA Technician

Job Description

Ensure the quality of products and services by testing the product, performing audits of product lines, and placing defective products on hold as necessary. Execute quality assurance programs by upholding program expectations and standards. Validate and verify that components of the SQF programs are in place and being executed as directed by the SQF Practitioner. Review the CAPA (Corrective Action and Preventive Action) program. Perform various product tests by testing batches, conducting taste tests on finished products, checking ingredients and recipes, logging results, and correcting any discrepancies. Communicate with key personnel within the organization regarding the status of ingredients and products. Manage raw ingredients through inspections, prepare hold reports and hold tags, and inform necessary personnel and/or departments to determine the disposition of items on hold. Complete necessary daily duties such as entering daily production data into the computer, filing paperwork, and completing various reports.

Responsibilities

  • Test products and perform audits of product lines.

  • Place defective products on hold as necessary.

  • Execute quality assurance programs and uphold their expectations and standards.

  • Validate and verify components of the SQF programs.

  • Review and manage the CAPA program.

  • Conduct various product tests, including taste tests on finished products.

  • Check ingredients and recipes, log results, and correct discrepancies.

  • Communicate with key personnel regarding the status of ingredients and products.

  • Manage raw ingredient inspections and prepare hold reports and hold tags.

  • Inform relevant personnel to determine the disposition of items on hold.

  • Enter daily production data into the computer, file paperwork, and complete various reports.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communication and coaching skills.

  • Detail-oriented with experience in sanitation principles and practices.

  • Proficient computer skills in spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.

  • Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products, and processes.

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and possess excellent personal skills.

  • Strong experience in HAACP, Food Safety, GMP, AIB, and SPC.

  • Hands-on work ethic.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Understanding of Food Safety and GMPs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in computer skills including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.

Work Environment

This role is within a food manufacturing company that specializes in making pizza crusts. The environment requires adherence to food safety and GMP standards. Dress code and safety equipment are mandatory as per the company’s regulations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Oregon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00
