Clarkson University Maintenance Mechanic Carpenter/Painter in Potsdam, New York
Overview <br> This is a highly customer service oriented position in which employees should strive to exceed customer expectations. Perform at a journeyman level to construct, repair, restore, and install structural woodwork, masonry, glass and related materials using hand and power tools in accordance with blueprints, specs, established practices and pertinent state and local code. Responsible for estimating material costs and time required to complete project and to inspect work.br>
Essential Skills <br> Must have enthusiasm for the job, a customer service approach and be willing to work in a team environment <br> Hold a valid NYS drivers license with a driving record acceptable to meet the University insurance standards <br> Proficient mathematical skills <br> Problem solving and analytical skills <br> Possess general knowledge of the campus layout and building locations <br> Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituencies <br> Excellent written and oral communication skills <br> Strong organizational skills are required <br> Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques common to the painting trade <br> Knowledge and skill in hazardous materials handling, application, and disposal <br> Skill in the preparation and application of paints, stains, and surface preparation materials to a wide variety of surfaces <br> Must be able to function under stressful conditions and/or high volume with short turnaround <br> <br> Physical Demands <br> The physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
