General Atomics and Affiliated Companies Global Logistics Analyst in Poway, California

Under general direction, this position is responsible for scoping, planning and managing large and complex import and export shipments. Works closely with our Trade Compliance, Global Shipping, Program Managers and our established global 3PL Network to develop optimal and compliant logistics and shipping solutions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes, validates and develops complex logistics and international shipping solutions.

  • Responsible for processing import and export shipments, including proper packaging, required export/import document creation and submission and shipment classification.

  • Works very closely with Trade Compliance and Program Management teams to achieve global logistics and international shipping goals and objectives.

  • Strong knowledge of Import and Export laws and regulations, including product classification, ITAR, Incoterms, import and export document filing, AES and record retention requirements.

  • Develops complex logistics programs, requirements and controls; and leads implementation efforts of requirements specific to global forward and reverse logistics operations.

  • Logistics project management and solution development as required by internal and external customers and end users.

  • Partners regularly with multiple internal teams to achieve goals and work assignments including finance, purchasing, operations, manufacturing and the programs office.

  • Leads and performs analysis and verification to ensure consistency, traceability, feasibility and completeness; recommends and implements process improvements.

  • Works closely with our established Global 3rd Party Logistics network; develops custom forward and reverse logistics solutions, solicits transportation quotes and performs cost analysis.

  • Works with established Global 3rd Party Network, manages complex transportation (forward and reverse) moves throughout the world as required by internal Program Office and Customers.

  • Develops and implements required logistics practices and processes; and develops policies, procedures and tools specific to international shipping.

  • May provide leadership and training to less experienced staff.

  • Knowledgeable of and keeps current with Shipping, Receiving, Transportation and Trade Compliance procedures including but not limited to the IATA and DoT transportation policies.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and three or more years of experience as a business process analyst working with computerized management systems to include, but not limited to, product life cycle systems. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

  • Must have a complete understanding of logistics business process/life cycle management principles, theories and concepts and a general understanding of aeronautical industry practices, techniques, and standards.

  • Must be customer and solutions focused and possess:

  • Experience in International and Domestic Shipping, Receiving, and Transportation.

  • Experience in International Trade Compliance policies and procedures. Export Record Database requirements experience is preferred.

  • Strong project management and communication skills.

  • Ability to develop, interpret and manage complex analytical and reporting tools and metrics.

  • Strong Excel, SAP, Power Point, Logistics and Trade Compliance ERP experience.

  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills are necessary in order to report findings to a variety of audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and guide employees, managers, internal/external customers.

  • Ability to work independently or lead in a team environment is essential.

  • As is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
