Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Building Construction Site Superintendent to oversee construction projects. The Superintendent assumes a leadership role by guiding field personnel to the successful completion of projects on schedule and within budget while maintaining high quality and a safe workplace.
Location
IDL Project’s head office is in Prince George, British Columbia and has multiple satellite offices and project locations across western Canada including Terrace, Prince Rupert, Vancouver and Vancouver Island. This position is for projects that are not local to the Prince George area. Depending on the project, there may be an option for travelling in and out on a rotational basis.
Responsibilities
Manage and supervise all on-site activities including, but not limited to, subcontractors, scheduling, and construction progress
Ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and within the specified timeframe
Maintain accurate project records, including daily logs, schedules, and change orders
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure that construction projects meet specifications and design plans
Communicate effectively with stakeholders including, clients, contractors, and project team members
Manage budgets and ensure that construction projects are completed within the allocated budget
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and building codes
Manage and coordinate all site inspections
May perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in building construction
Previous experience as a Superintendent, General Foreman, Project Manager or similar direct supervisory role
Familiar with construction terms, practices, scheduling, costs and budgets
Ability to effectively plan and adhere to a project schedule
Proven safety record and ability to portray the importance of safety to field personnel and subcontractors
Ability to work out of town when required
Capacity to motivate, lead, and boost the morale of teams
Strong negotiation, organization, time management and coordination skills
Logical decision-making ability and the capacity to handle pressure
Intermediate user of Excel, Word, Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Project
