Job Summary:

As a Flex Casual Security Officer at Fairview, you play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff, and property within our facilities. Your primary responsibility is to respond to community needs and uphold exceptional customer service standards while actively preventing theft and vandalism. You may encounter high-risk situations, necessitating precautionary measures to safeguard individuals and assets.

Job Expectations:

Flex Casual Security Officers are expected to offer support across various campuses impartially and without bias, subject to regular monitoring and review by leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Patrols: Maintain vigilance at entry points to identify potential threats and intervene as necessary to mitigate emergencies and uphold a secure environment.

  • Monitor Security Services Calls: Provide assistance as required and engage in clear, collaborative communication with a focus on teamwork.

  • Assist with Entry: Help patients, visitors, contractors, and staff upon entry, verifying their credentials and permissions where necessary to ensure authorized access.

  • De-Escalation and Restraint: Employ de-escalation techniques and, if needed, physical restraint to manage potentially violent individuals, demonstrating physical aptitude, adaptability, and critical reasoning.

  • Adhere to Regulations: Follow pertinent laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards while staying informed of updates and changes.

  • Respectful Care and Service: Deliver respectful care and service that acknowledges and respects the diverse developmental and cultural backgrounds of those served.

Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:

License/Certification/Registration:

  • Valid Class D Driver’s License: Essential for this role. A DMV record that meets M Health Fairview insurability requirements is also necessary for performing job duties.

Background Check and Training:

  • M Health Fairview Background Check: Successful completion is mandatory for employment.

  • Pre-Assignment Training: Candidates must demonstrate the ability to pass pre-assignment training within the probationary period to ensure readiness for the role.

Experience:

  • Hospital Security Experience: Previous experience in hospital security is preferred but not mandatory, as it provides a valuable foundation for understanding the unique challenges and responsibilities of the role.
