Princeton University Research Scholar: Robotics and Automation in Princeton, New Jersey

Position: Research Scholar: Robotics and Automation Description: Research Scholar: Robotics and Automation The Seung lab at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute is searching for an accomplished scientist and engineer to lead R&D efforts on technologies for acquiring nanoscale volumetric images of brain tissue. This will include projects on robotic collection of ultrathin serial sections and automated high-throughput imaging. The scientist will manage engineering teams, oversee hardware-software integration, and foster team leadership and development within a multidisciplinary environment. Key Responsibilities: -Lead Advanced Research Projects: Develop and oversee research projects focused on robot manipulation, including perception, pick-and-place, control system, path planning, and hardware integration. -Manage Engineering Teams: Direct and coordinate engineering teams in the design, development, and implementation of autonomous robotic systems. -Oversee Integration: Supervise the integration of hardware and software components to create reliable and scalable autonomous systems. -Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Essential Qualifications: -Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. -Outstanding track-record of hands-on robotics and automation experience. -A minimum of 8 years of relevant post-Ph.D. experience. -At least 3 years of experience as an academic research manager or equivalent role. -A strong publication record. -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team. Preferred Qualifications: -Experience in research-to-product commercialization. -Demonstrated experience with computer vision systems and their integration with robotic platforms. -Proven experience in developing high-performance computing applications for real-time data processing. -Experience with large-scale automation projects, particularly those involving delicate or complex tasks. -Familiarity with electron microscopy techniques and associated hardware. -Strong background in system engineering and project management within a multidisciplinary research environment. -Experience in managing large research grants.
