Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Business Development Analytics is a critical member of the BD and Strategy Analytics team, responsible for the execution and delivery of best-in-class analytics and commercial assessment of potential assets, programs, markets, and collaborations being considered in a given BMS Franchise. The Senior Manager serves as an internal consultant to leadership by supporting the assessment of financial implications of BD opportunities, and helps BD-focused teams (Commercial, Business Development and R&D, and extended stakeholders) make informed strategic decisions and choices through the clear development & articulation of various opportunities during due-diligence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as the key point of contact/strategic partner for business development analytics within a single BMS franchise (Commercial leaders, Directors of Business Development Transactions and S&E, R&D, and BD Finance)

  • Partners with stakeholders in the strategic framing, due diligence, and fit-for-purpose analytics that drives data-driven investment decisions

  • Accountable for generating, presenting, defending and maintaining forecasts of opportunities and markets with a high degree of precision and insight

  • Provides context for decisions, both disease area and portfolio context, to help teams understand how decisions will be perceived by senior management / business development review committees

  • Proactively and continuously assesses the relevant marketplace and its dynamics, customers, competitors and future development trends

  • Provide an unbiased point of view on the performance and future potential of markets/brands/pipeline assets, supported by facts and evidence

  • Develops and delivers clear, concise presentations that synthesize disparate data (market research, secondary data, etc.), and that demonstrates a deep understanding of the market dynamics, competition, and business development opportunity

  • Effectively collaborates with a broad set of business counterparts (including Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Marketing, Pricing & Reimbursement, Strategic Options & Analysis, and Business Development Finance) to plan and execute accurate analytics in support of diligence workstreams

  • Maintains data integrity and consistency within disease areas and business development analytics group

Requirements

  • BA required, Masters or PhD preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, consulting, venture capital, or investment banking space; with 2+ years of forecasting experience

  • Strong scientific and market knowledge of Cardiovascular, Immunoscience or Neuroscience highly desirable

  • Must possess strong leadership, communication, and consulting skills with evidence of successful engagement with senior level executives

  • Can defend a position, when necessary, particularly around forecast assumptions, and is persuasive in negotiations (especially as it relates to senior / executive management)

  • Demonstrates a continuous commitment to the QC process to ensure quality of deliverables meets or exceeds team's standards
