Family Service of Rhode Island Inc.* Bilingual Housing Navigator, Coming Home Prov in Providence, Rhode Island

Position Summary:Provides housing information, advocacy, support, and referrals to families residing at Lucys Hearth family shelter in Middletown to help them relocate to stable and safe housing in Providence. Assists with outreach and engagement to expand access to underserved communities. Processes requests for rental and security deposit assistance to prevent homelessness. Provides coaching and triage to help service recipients address barriers to maintaining stable and safe housing. This position will be co-located at FSRIs Providence office and Lucys Hearth in Middletown.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in human/social service field or Associates degree in a relevant field with field experience required
  • One year of case management or field experience required
  • Experience providing housing support services within Rhode Island required, with specific experience in Providence preferred
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft platforms and an Electronic Medical Record
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a Community Health Worker certification or be willing to become certified, with the assistance of FSRI staff, within 12 months of employment.
  • Must possess a BHHP Housing First certification or be willing to become certified, with the assistance of FSRI staff, within 12 months of employment.
  • Possession of valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance required
  • Must be agreeable to a hybrid work environment and flexible scheduling to meet recipient needs
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required
  • Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires a mix of at-home/virtual, office-based, and community-visit work.
  • Employees in this position must be able to travel to and from office sites and community locations, which could include using walkways, stairs, and/or elevators.
  • Employees must also have the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
