Brown University Program and Outreach Coordinator in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

The Program and Outreach Coordinator must have a broad knowledge of the complex research, teaching and service mission of the Department of East Asian Studies (EAS). The Coordinator will manage all aspects of internal and external communications as well as support the day-to-day administrative, and operational functions of the departments by working collaboratively and independently with faculty, staff, students and serve as a primary point of contact for alumni, University and community partners and other constituents with whom the departments interact in accordance with all department and university policies and procedures and utilizing university resources and technology.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous work within an academic environment and in a role that supports events and programs is preferred.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and Adobe applications (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop) with strong aptitude for learning other computerized systems.

  • Experience with or exposure to academic technology (Banner, Workday) and learning tools highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and oral).

  • Evidence of excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of East Asian cultures and languages is highly desirable.

  • Strong project/time management skills.

  • Must be detail-oriented and have an ability to handle and complete projects concurrently.

  • Ability to apply good judgment and proven responsible decision-making skills; tact and discretion are required to deal with highly confidential information.

  • Familiarity with updating website content, preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
