The Company is currently searching for an experienced tax professional to fill the Tax Manager position in our Tax Compliance Team. This role represents a great opportunity to become a member of a dynamic tax department comprised of highly skilled and motivated tax professionals committed to providing team members with challenging and diverse tax work experience. This position reports to the Director, Tax Compliance as a member of the Tax Compliance Team and involves coordination of the Company’s tax reporting requirements related to federal and state tax return preparation and review, financial statement reporting for income taxes (ASC 740), IRS audit support for the Company as needed, development of less senior staff members, tax research and special project work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation and review of complex consolidated federal and state income tax returns (Subchapter C)

  • Preparation and review of quarterly estimate and extension calculations and payments

  • Preparation and review of book to tax differences with documentation of underlying accounting methods

  • Responsible for training and mentoring staff including review and evaluation of their work as well as assistance in staff development

  • Assist reporting team with tax provision inputs including review of SOX compliance internal controls for domestic tax compliance.

  • Responsible for various special projects related to items such as Section 382 and state NOL carryovers.

  • Research enacted and proposed legislation and prepare research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents as necessary to support conclusions.

  • Coordinate with other tax department team members on IRS examination information requests.

  • Provide internal tax advisory services and assist in tax planning projects.

  • Participate and lead in implementation of tax compliance process improvement initiatives.

  • May be required to direct, manage, develop, and mentor Tax Compliance Team staff members and assess performance through formal periodic reviews and informal feedback.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills coupled with the ability to use these skills to make quality decisions in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting based on US GAAP, ASC 740, consolidated tax return regulations, and multi state tax concepts.

  • Advanced communication skills as evidenced by clear, effective communication and taking responsibility for understanding others.

  • Advanced project management skills as evidenced by experience managing tax compliance requirements, related processes, and organizing people and activities to complete a project.

  • Demonstrated advanced working knowledge of the consolidation and eliminations process including corporate tax forms, schedules and disclosures required with the ability to apply this expertise to the business environment.

  • Must be comfortable dealing with ambiguity, innovative ideas, perspectives, strategies, and positions.

  • Able to develop and articulate vision and support leadership in development of strategy and execution

  • Experienced with Excel and income tax provision and compliance software.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Accounting

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in a corporate tax environment or a combination of public and private industry experience. Prior public accounting experience helpful.

  • CPA and/or MST preferable.
