ABOUT AMERICORPS

AmeriCorps is a national network of programs that address critical community needs in our nation. The Welcome Baby Program is partly funded by the federal AmeriCorps program administered by Userve (Utah's State Commission on Volunteers). It allows people of all ages to provide valuable service to their community while gaining job experience and valuable life skills.

People who serve with AmeriCorps (called "AmeriCorps members") receive a living allowance each month and an education award they can put towards tuition/repayment of student loans once they complete their term of service. AmeriCorps service is much like a paid internship. AmeriCorps members are placed at various sites based on community needs. These sites range from medical clinics to school settings to nonprofit agencies.
