Amazon GSRC Operations Lead , Global Solutions Risk and Compliance (GSRC) in Pune, India

GSRC (Global Solutions and Risk Compliance) is the operational arm of ORC (Operations Risk Compliance) organization. GSRC mission is to accelerate Amazon’s business growth and marketplace presence at scale and speed using high quality teams and solutions to solve regulatory and business problems. The team supports regulatory compliance requirements for Amazon’s worldwide programs like Dangerous Goods, Global Trade Services and Transport Risk and Compliance. GSRC currently has presence in India, China, Poland, Romania, Netherlands, Jordan, Costa Rica, UK, Luxembourg, Singapore and USA.

As Global Operations Leader, you are integral to the model that Operation Risk and Compliance use to achieve a safe and high performing compliance function (i) policy and program teams, (ii) operations delivery teams, and (iii) support teams like PMO, forecasting & capacity planning and technology teams. Working within GSRC you are at the center of how we get things done in compliance, at scale for Amazon.

Our space is complex and high impact; working with evolving regulations, changing business needs, and a mandate to elevate compliance while simplifying our processes. A successful candidate will be highly collaborative, a strong people leader, that is results and data driven. Owning a single compliance topic e.g. dangerous goods you are responsible and accountable for the operating performance of a this function globally across every GSRC location. Working with the Compliance STL, program, and support teams, you will consistently deliver against the key output goals for each function/program such as productivity, SLA, quality and cost. You own the goals for operations delivery related to incoming new compliance programs, initiatives and/or processes, including changes to existing ones. You ensure that new initiative/program/process are introduced without negatively affecting operational performance. You develop your teams effectively by setting clear direction, performance and development outcomes for the function.

This is an L7 Manager role, leading large teams in global locations. Travel will be needed, as will excellent leading remote team skills.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead the teams executing compliance activities for a given program globally. Set the direction, objectives and goals for the team. Establish the optimum staffing models, technology needs and mechanisms for effective delivery and monitoring of work.

• Own and deliver against goals for quality, productivity, SLA and cost, lead operational excellence strategy for your program and deliver initiatives across operational excellence. Support Development of strategies and programs that improve the competitive position and profitability of the organization

• Lead a diverse and high-performing team, drive engagement, development and growth. Sets clear goals, direction and expectations for team. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds leaders accountable.

• Effectively partner and build productive working relationships with direct reports, operations, peers, senior leadership, stakeholders and other departments. Regularly report out to the leadership and key stakeholders in an effective and concise manner.

• Drives continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and improve productivity; works on strategic projects that have cross compliance impact. Effectively leverages other global leaders, STLs, and GSRC leaders to solicit ideas and understand problems and challenges in the program. Shares process improvements and drive efficiencies and cost savings.

Basic Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Compliance, Operations Management etc.) or equivalent.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex compliance concepts clearly and effectively to different levels of leadership.

• Proven experience (10+ years) working in operations, or compliance program management or a related field, preferably in a global context.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop efficient processes and mechanisms.

• Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of driving initiatives and leading cross-functional teams to success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to the topic (optional).

  • Prior work with large operations teams such as customer service centres, or business support teams.
