Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Responsibilities Performs duties as Data Scientist on the Business Intelligence team developing statistical models, statistical analysis, and data analytics to derive actionable insights from complex datasets. Support MCCS¿ data-driven decision-making processes and driving innovation within the organization. Key Responsibilities: 1. Data Analysis: Utilizes statistical models and analytical techniques to extract valuable insights from large datasets. 2. Data Modeling: Develops and implements advanced statistical models to predict trends, identify patterns, and solve complex business problems. 3. Programming: Proficiently uses programming languages such as R and Python for data analysis and modeling. 4. Visualization: Creates and presents data visualizations, dashboards, and reports using tools like Power BI and MicroStrategy to convey findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 5. Version Control: Manages and collaborates on projects using version control systems such as GitHub. 6. Cloud Computing: Works with cloud platforms like Azure and AWS to develop and deploy data solutions and models. 7. Containerization: Uses Docker for containerization and application deployment. 8. Collaboration: Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and provide data-driven solutions. Reports progress as required. 9. Documentation: Maintains clear and concise documentation of methodologies, results, and code. 10. Data Governance: Contributes to develop, implement, and manage the MCCS Data Governance strategy. May serve as a strategic interface with areas of the business by participating in a process that partners IT with business functions. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications A Bachelor's or higher degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or Business Administration) is required OR 3 years of proven experience as a Data Scientist or similar role OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates a knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above. Proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling. Proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling. Strong programming skills in R and Python. Experience in data visualization using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy. Strong understanding of relational database management systems, data warehousing systems and states of data presented in various data repositories. Knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL). Familiarity with data engineering concepts. Knowledge of Data Lakes concepts (e.g., Informatica, Microsoft Fabric) is a plus. Proficiency with version control using GitHub. Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and their data-related services. Experience with Docker for containerization. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Eligible for incremental telework as determined by MR/MF policy.
