Role Summary / Purpose
The Lead Project Engineer is responsible for executing projects related to air starters for industrial applications. He/she works with the areas involved in the Product Development Process (manufacturing, sourcing, supplier, quality, etc.) to meet the customer requirements. The PE is responsible of designing and developing mechanical products throughout the whole product development process.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform projects throughout the whole product development process with minimal guidance; the projects shall meet GE policies, standards, procedures, specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and any other special security requirements. Tasks include:
Design mechanical components for air starters as per customer requirements
Integrate mechanical components into the final application
Understand and read FEA results
Ensure the proper documentation of the technical information generated for the project, and as per the engineering procedures and policies
Provide timely communication to stakeholders
Prepare and present technical reviews (internal and to customer)
Assess customer requirements
Maintain records and regular reports on project status to stakeholders (schedule, cost, overall progress)
Support test plans, procedures and reports (for qualification and/or development)
Solve customer issues and service requests (lead and implement)
Support field issues
Support the product line supply chain (manufacturing, quality, sourcing) as for engineering drawing updates and assessments
Support MRB substantiation
These activities can be part of a New Product Introduction or a Legacy component. For either, the PE is responsible of knowing and executing as per the applicable processes.
The PE shall be able to concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
Qualifications / Requirements

BS degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace or related field
Effective and assertive written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
Must be able to maintain technical conversations in English
Able to manage own projects and tasks
GD&T intermediate knowledge
Proficiency in design and analysis tools such as Unigraphics NX
Basic understanding of rotative component design and starting systems
Proficiency in design change substantiation
Proven contributions in a similar role or function
Intermediate technical knowledge of common manufacturing methods for mechanical products such as machining, casting, bending, welding, brazing, rolling, etc.
Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate across functions
Strong understanding of Project Management principles
Strong problem-solving skills with guidance
Desired Characteristics
Experience in industrial mechanical design
Familiar to design and analysis tools (ANSYS, CATIA)
Educated on new product development and sustaining processes
