Overview:

Business Continuity Project Management SkillBridge Internship (Global Clinical Supply)

The Global Clinical Supply (GCS) organization is accountable for managing the 'end-to-end' integrated clinical supply chain across the full company Research Laboratories portfolio of clinical trials. GCS supports more than 300 Phase I-IV clinical trials run in-house, 400+ outsourced or run by partners, and 300+ company Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS) clinical trials. GCS is accountable for the planning, sourcing, labeling, packaging, and delivery of clinical supplies to clinical sites across more than 60+ countries, in accordance with US and Global regulations, company policies, and Standard Operating Procedures.

As part of the SkillBridge internship program, which lasts up to 22 weeks, you will have the opportunity to work on one or more projects within our Global Clinical Supply organization. This internship will provide professional development and the chance to collaborate with talented colleagues in one of the leading pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

Ensuring treatment continuity for patients enrolled in Merck trials around the world is of utmost importance, requiring GCS to have robust plans in the event of a disruption. The internship supports Business Continuity (BC) preparedness for the clinical supply chain with respect to reinforcing facility aspects of the GCS BC plan. The scope of the project includes:

  • Identification of GCS' critical facility needs.

  • Develop response plans in the event of a disruption that meet the needs of GCS and can be accommodated by Facilities/other areas.

  • Consideration of all GCS operational sites: West Point, Rahway, WAG, Haarlem (future)

  • Cross functional interactions within GCS, with Facilities Management and other groups as needed to ensure alignment of content.

  • Potential to engage in other business continuity activities as needed

Work Experience

We are seeking intern candidates with strong analytical and communication skills, who are great team-players, and can work in a multi-functional environment. The intern may participate in departmental and project team meetings to provide a broad perspective on the drug development process in the pharmaceutical industry.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must meet all DoD SkillBridge requirements for participation.

· Candidates must be available to work full-time for 5 months.

· Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree with experience in supply chain management, business, engineering, or other scientific discipline.

· Candidates must have a track record of success in service.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with facility management and crisis management is an advantage.

  • Self-driven to engage others and must have excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

· Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to prioritize tasks and initiatives.

· Be able to maintain focus on the key project goals and priorities, but also be able to dive into

the detail to facilitate problem resolution and ensure project success.

· Experience with change management and leading process improvement initiatives.

· Strong knowledge of the principles of project management and customer relationship management.

· Mission or operational planning experience

· Results oriented with the proven ability to execute on collaborative projects and develop subject matter expertise Exceptional written and verbal communication and relationship skills along with high personal integrity, credibility, and energy.

· Preferred experience leading teams

· Preferred familiarity with SAP as an ERP/MRP system.

· Preferred familiarity with data analytics/visualization software.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Primary Work Site/Schedule

· Remote capable while in the SkillBridge internship.

· On-site work locations: Rahway, NJ, OR West Point, PA; Hybrid, preferred for full-time position.

Requirement: Transitioning Service Member who is eligible for participation in the DOD SkillBridge program.

Fellowship Company Transition Opportunities: This Internship will be geared towards a Specialist or Senior Specialist position and aligns to a full time transition opportunity.
