    Facility Description

    Blue Ridge Surgery Center is a fast pace multi-specialty ambulatory surgical center with 6 ORs, and 2 procedure rooms. We are a values-based company which places clinical quality first. The center is a partnership between SCA Health and a group of local physicians. Responsibilities

Seeking Business Office Clerk with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to work in a fast-paced environment. The potential candidate must be reliable, detail oriented, self-directed, demonstrate initiative, skilled problem solver and have a positive and cooperative work ethic. This position will provide support to the facility by performing specific or various business office functions as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls in a pleasant manner and deals with physician offices and patient’s needs expeditiously. Relay accurate information and direct calls appropriately.

  • Register patients upon arrival to facility, to include tasks such as verification of patient identity, financial, demographic and insurance information, ensures completion of required paperwork, etc.

  • Performs various clerical duties such as preparing patient charts, photocopying forms, gathering patient information, faxing forms, and retrieving faxes as needed.

  • Place outgoing phone calls to patients to confirm their next day arrival time and discuss financial responsibility and pre-operative instructions.

  • Greet and communicate with patients and visitors within the facility

  • Open mail and distribute

  • Prepare and reconcile daily deposits

  • Maintain clean and tidy lobby area

  • Verify vendor and visitor sign in

  • Complete patients’ charts with all applicable paperwork including operative reports, pathology, and laboratory documentation

  • Medical Record Storage and Retention

  • HOURS FOR THIS POSITION COULD BE 5:15 AM – 1:45 PM OR 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM DEPENDING ON THE NEED AT TIME OF HIRE.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or equivalent preferred

  • 1 year experience in a medical office, hospital, outpatient surgery center or related field

  • Possess knowledge of computer work including typing, word processing, and healthcare patient accounting systems

  • Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, physicians, and other teammates

  • Possess strong initiative to get daily work finished. Ability to adhere to attendance policy.

  • The candidate must be flexible with hours to ensure proper Business Office coverage as needed.

    USD $16.00/Hr. USD $21.00/Hr.
