Your Impact at SAM

The Director of Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the office by working with the executive management team, regional management, and market leadership to establish long-range goals, strategies, operational plans, and the allocation of resources to meet or exceed the short and long term office growth and performance objectives. The positions reports to the Regional Director to support the office’s objectives.

  • Provides overall leadership and management of the office; Interacts frequently with the staff and ensures that the Company vision and mission are implemented, while successfully practicing its’ core values related to employees, ethics, corporate safety standards, integrity and corporate (social) responsibility

  • Builds a solid partnership with the Operations Manager, and in collaboration drives the office to achieve sales, profitability, cash flow, business goals and overall operational excellence

  • Directs strategic discussions and collaborates with the regional executive management teams on the development of the office’s long-term strategy for growth in all markets. Leads the development, communication, and implementation of the office’s strategic growth plan

  • Acts as lead “client-care officer” to foster relationships with clients, other offices, and business partners; Builds alliances and partnerships with other organizations to shape market opportunities

  • Responsible for all marketing activities for the office; Collaborates with the office project management team to build and grow a local market that is specific to its geographic location and culture; Sets goals to achieve a desired growth plan of 20% year over year in revenue

  • Oversees the office project management team regarding the fiscal activities of the organization, including preparing annual budgets and completing risk analysis for potential new growth areas, client satisfaction, quality monitoring, and safety

  • Providing mentoring for growth and development

  • Provides and executes a vision for a work environment that recruits, retains and supports a quality staff for the present, as well as for the future growth of the company. Reports to the regional and executive management teams to ensure that they are properly informed and have sufficient knowledge to make informed decisions regarding its’ governance functions, company initiatives, and potential growth markets

  • Collaborate with Human Resources to resolve employee relations matters

  • Serves as the primary spokesperson for the office and represents the organization as appropriate at key functions and industry events

  • Lead and/or attend both tactical and strategic meetings (operations meetings, etc.)

What You Bring to SAM

  • 15+ years of progressive surveying or engineering and management experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to manage multiple licensed professional, technicians and field crews to deliver large multi-disciplinary projects

  • Demonstrated success in business development, marketing, and networking

  • Successful experience in contract negotiations, budgets, and fee estimates

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Professional Licensed Surveyor or Professional Licensed Engineer Preferred
