Oracle Senior Software Engineering Manager in Raleigh, North Carolina

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area.

Responsibilities

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

  • Effective presence and ability to communicate and present forward looking plans to the highest levels of executives

  • Strong technical knowledge, which encompasses understanding data center systems, cloud technologies, and managing engineering resources

  • Experience leading 24/7 operations teams

  • Ability to succeed through collaboration and working through other internal and external organizations and individuals.

  • Strong leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills required.

  • Ability to learn quickly and adjust to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.

  • Ability to apply independent and sound business judgment to solve complex issues.

  • Works independently with minimal supervision required and can lead cross-functional teams to complete projects and major initiatives using judgment, experience, and leadership skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience developing software in relevant areas.

  • 5+ years of experience delivering and operating big-data application services and analytics.

  • 5+ years leading high performing engineering teams.

  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.

  • Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in managing large-scale, big-data focused projects.

  • Experience in managing network and security expectations, requirements, and operations.

  • Experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.

  • Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus.

  • Comfortable in a collaborative, agile development environment.

  • Experience with Java programming language.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $107,100 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
