PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION: Assists fabricators in a variety of sheet metal components and performs a wide range of forming operations to develop the required parts to produce fabrications which are standard and normal. Work normally consists of multiple parts requiring coordination of efforts to accomplish assigned tasks. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: * Provides optimum cooperation and complete information to Supervisor/trainer and other personnel, relative to projects within his/her assigned group, to ensure on-time and accurate job completion. * Recommends new methods and procedures to improve efficiency as apparent or required. * Learns and works from drawings, sketches, and instructions to determine operational requirements and makes arithmetic calculations to develop forming details. Learns to use trigonometry functions and other lay out formulas to accomplish fabrications. * Trains/assists on laying out work on sheet metal, indicating operational lines and dimensions; exercising care to conserve material. * Learns to operate various equipment i.e., Cincinnati press break for forming and difficult bumping operations, flange, rolls, sheer, band saw, and various hand tools etc. * Checks work as necessary to assure holding prescribed tolerances to maintain quality standards. * Detects defective materials, unusual conditions or operating difficulties for reporting and relays information to supervisors. * Complies with Company and Department policies and procedures as applicable. * Maintains a positive attitude and promotes a team approach throughout the Department. * Other duties as assigned. . Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY: * High school education or equivalent. * 6 months to 1 year of sheet metal layout/fabrication or related experience. * Ability to demonstrate strong math and trigonometry applications. * Ability to read and interpret complex drawings in making standard layouts and fabrications. * Ability to use a variety of hand tools, measuring instruments, and operation of all metal forming equipment. * Ability to work on a wide assortment of layouts; from small to very large layouts using compound angles and other complex layout specifications. * Ability to work independently or with others. * Displays a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow. * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Anderson Dahlen fosters a manufacturing type environment. Moderately heavy work requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing 50 pounds or less.
