We are seeking Environmental Planners at Assistant and Consultant level to join our team on a permanent basis. These positions are national roles, with the opportunity to be based in Reading, Bristol, Warrington or London. We can offer you a mix of home and office working which will help maintain a good work life balance and effective team working.

Our broad based growth means we are supporting projects across multiple sectors including major development (new communities, regeneration, employment, etc.), energy and transport developments helping to secure and implement planning permissions. Our work currently includes establishing an internationally important low carbon smart campus at Gravity (generating 7,500 new jobs), new garden communities including in Oxfordshire and Essex, and supporting a new crossing of the River Thames.

As we are currently supporting some of the country’s most significant projects we are seeking a candidate whose ambition matches our own.

Key elements of the role will include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of regeneration, development and infrastructure projects as appropriate

  • Work with senior members of our team to develop client relationships

  • Contribute to single- and multi-disciplinary proposals bids

  • Coordination of environmental teams, including in Environmental Impact Assessment

  • Provision of wider environmental planning services, including health, social impact, sustainability, energy, waste and materials, and lighting

This role offers the opportunity to work in a truly multi-disciplinary environment, giving access to a broad knowledge base with the support of experts across the business. It is anticipated that the role will include supporting the delivery of a broad range of environmental planning work streams, to deliver integrated environmental services. Given the range of services we provide, and sectors we operate in, we can tailor the opportunity around the interests and ambitions of the right candidate.

About You

You will have a minimum 3 years’ relevant experience and will have a BSc or MSc in a relevant subject, or the equivalent level qualification. In addition, you will have:

  • Broad understanding of environmental issues and disciplines;

  • Good knowledge of the planning system and development management procedures;

  • Capable of working on your own initiative or part of a team;

  • Ability to organise project teams and manage multiple data sources;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel would be useful but not essential; and

  • Able to engage with clients and confident in liaising with all levels of management both internally and externally.

Ideally the applicant will be able to demonstrate competency and flexibility to meet the demands of the role.
