JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Operations will provide strategic leadership and management for the Penn State Berks Athletics Department. This 10-month position is responsible for effectively managing athletic facilities, event operations, and intramural programming. The role also includes supervising the Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center and serving as a sports administrator for select programs. This is an FTE position with Penn State. Full time benefits are included.
Key Responsibilities
70% Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Operations
Oversee athletics facilities, ensuring proper upkeep and maintenance in coordination with campus maintenance teams.
Collaborate with coaches to develop and manage practice schedules, ensuring timely entry into the campus-wide scheduling database.
Serve as the primary point of contact for visiting teams during home games and for external groups utilizing athletic facilities.
Recruit, hire, and supervise student workers for home athletic events.
Manage departmental equipment, serving as the liaison with equipment suppliers.
Provide leadership as the sports administrator for assigned athletic programs, ensuring policy compliance and fostering program development.
20% Supervisor of Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center
Oversee all aspects of the Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Recruit, hire, and schedule part-time staff, including student workers and professional employees.
Develop and manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate supervision during operational hours.
Address and resolve conflicts or issues that arise during daily operations.
Communicate facility closures or restrictions effectively through appropriate signage and notifications.
Maintain the facility's safety standards for all recreational, varsity, club, and intramural activities.
10% Intramural Program Director
Plan, organize, and implement the intramural program for the fall and spring semesters, prioritizing safety and inclusivity.
Advertise intramural events to maximize participation among students, faculty, and staff.
Recruit, train, and supervise staff to assist with event operations.
Purchase and maintain all equipment necessary for intramural activities.
Mediate and resolve conflicts that may arise during intramural events.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ plus of relevant experience, Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in athletics administration, facility management, or event operations.
Proven ability to supervise staff, manage multiple priorities, and resolve conflicts effectively.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience in intramural programming and equipment management.
Familiarity with campus-wide scheduling databases and athletic facility operations.
Working Conditions
This role is performed primarily on campus, frequently engaging in athletic facilities and occasional outdoor work.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by events and facility operations. Capability to lift equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
