Lincoln Behavioral Services School Based Therapist in Redford, Michigan

The School/Community Specialist will provide intensive home and community based services to children and their families that are experiencing severe truancy issues. The focus of treatment is to support and encourage families of the importance of school attendance and identify barriers to school participation. Intervention will be provided in the hopes of increasing attendance, promoting educational improvement, involvement in the community and improved family communication and relationships. Therapist will collaborate with the school system in identifying truancy trends and provide outcomes of contact with families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES *and *RESPONSIBILITIESinclude, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Completes all required trainings.
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled and at the location assigned.
  • Therapist must become reliable PECFAS/CAFAs raters by attending the PCFAS/CAFAs training within the first 3 months of hire. Therapist cannot administer the PCFAS/CAFAs unless certified a reliable rater.
  • Collaborate with the school system to identify severely truant families that could benefit from intervention.

· Practices Person Centered Planning principles.

· Assist in recommending families to diversion court

· Make home visits to check on students who are part of an intervention plan.

· Hold district intervention meetings (level 4 interventions).

· Be trained in restorative practices as a tool to work more collaboratively with families.

· Help further develop and define intervention plan (as a part of an absenteeism protocol system.

· Be a liaison between the school, family and central office.

· Recommend families to LBS or a center of their choosing, if treatment is a necessary intervention.

· Identify and link families to support services and resources within Redford Community and Wayne County to address unresolved financial, medical, mental health or other related needs.

· Work closely with parents, building counselors, building social workers and school administration staff.

· Work closely with the school resource officer

· Keep accurate and timely data and records to track interventions and improvements.

· Office location is at Redford Union Administrative Building for the majority of the time.

· Therapist completes necessary documentation in a timely manner.

  • Facilitate support groups as needed.
  • Provide client transportation as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development including but not limited to in-service training, peer review, external workshops and seminars.
  • Attend all LBS agency and department meetings as required.
  • Participate in meetings scheduled with the Redford Union School superintendent and other school personnel as needed.
  • The clinician has no substantiated recipient rights violations filed against him or her.
  • When appropriate, completes other assigned responsibilities in a reasonable established timeframe, with quality expectations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or other related human service field.
  • Appropriate licensure with the State of Michigan.
  • Background in childhood development or basic understanding of appropriate family dynamics.
  • Preferred 2 years experience with direct clinical experience in providing therapeutic services to children and their families.
