Microsoft Corporation Senior Business Analyst in Redmond, Washington

The Xbox Gaming Devices Ecosystem team is looking for a  Senior Business Analyst who has a proven track record of breaking through organizational silos to build alignment across teams on decisions related to effective telemetry tools, analyses, and insights reporting. The candidate also has project management capabilities, functions well in a rapidly evolving ambiguous environment without much handholding and is familiar with Gaming hardware world.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • build understanding of the business across multiple areas, links internal business topics to relevant external trends, and anticipates business problems

  • inspire others to recognize and understand the importance of data to business goals and engage others to constructively consider how data can be leveraged to improve business, people, and practices

  • leverage appropriate types and sources of data and/or metrics, understands how business needs translate into data requirements and evaluates sufficiency of data sources, determines needs for integrating additional data, and identifies, anticipates, and addresses gaps and data quality issues with data providers.

  • applyexpertise to determine analytical tools and techniques to address business questions

  • determine factors and/or data types to include in the evaluation of the impact of business, product, and/or operational decisions that provide relevant assessments of impact

  • develop appropriate presentations that tell stories of analyses, including dashboards, reports, data visualizations, self-service platforms, slides, and talking points that highlight relevant insights

  • communicate value, interpret data, and provide relevant insights within and outside the company by walking stakeholders through details, decisions, and methods

  • leverage working relationships within and across teams to ensure quality data sources, methodologies, as well as the appropriate application of analytical tools and processes, and drives their adoption, to facilitate insight generation, reporting, and interpretation

  • maintain or develop ties with external network of peers and identify prospective talent for Microsoft research pipelines, when asked

  • assist with documentation for team members as requested

  • understand and follow ethics and privacy policies when executing processes and/or collecting data/information

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer

Science, Marketing, or related field AND 4+ years experience

in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial

analysis.

o OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

o OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer

Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience

in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial

analysis.

o OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis.

o OR equivalent experience.

  • Master's Degree in Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis. ORequivalent experience

  • Enthusiastic, attention to detail, results oriented, organized, motivated and self-driven

  • Experience in Data Modeling and/or Data Mining

  • Experience with data visualization tools and data cleaning

  • Quality assurance

  • Self-starter who not only deals well with, but thrives in, ambiguity

  • Negotiation skills

  • Ability to build trusted advisor status and deep relationships across stakeholders (e.g., technical decision makers, business decision makers) through an understanding of customer needs and technologies

  • Drive to innovate and solve complex problems while retaining focus on maintaining a profitable business

Business Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.
