Microsoft Corporation Senior Technical Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) team delivers a managed Kubernetes service on Azure to make enterprises successful at building, deploying, and managing cloud native applications. The team is responsible for building AKS’ features and experiences, improving its fundamentals like reliability, scale and performance as well as expanding its ecosystem with 1st and 3rd party product partnerships.

The reliability of Kubernetes infrastructure is at utmost importance to customers to ensure the availability of their applications. At AKS, we are working on improving the infrastructure reliability and stability so that our customers can experience the highest uptime possible in the industry.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to join the AKS Fundamentals team and focus on reliability. As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will define and execute on a roadmap to improve reliability of the AKS managed infrastructure including the Kubernetes control plane. You will analyze the pain points of our customers, prioritize, define success metrics, and drive engineering teams across Azure to address those pain points. This opportunity will allow you to lead programs to evolve engineering culture around quality and make a big impact to Azure customers’ experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define and track success metrics for platform reliability.

  • Mine and analyze data from databases to continually learn about customer experience and drive platform reliability.

  • Prioritize the engineering roadmap in accordance with engineering resource allocation and drive against the commitments.

  • Partner closely with Azure Compute, Networking, Storage, and other Azure teams to improve reliability.

  • Lead a group of brilliant engineers on the execution of product roadmap.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience with container technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift

  • Experience in data analytics

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
