We are seeking a Software Engineer II for our Security Risk Engineering team. Our goal is to understand the threats we face from emergent attacks and help them mitigate against real world adversary tactics, tools, and procedures utilizing a data driven approach. As part of the Microsoft Security organization, you will have a direct impact in contributing to 'Security above all else' as part of the Microsoft Secure Future Initiative (SFI), driven by our mission to protect customer data and privacy in the world's largest productivity suite. You'll work directly on advanced technologies, protecting our M365 services with cutting-edge security solutions including access control, secrets management, data analysis, DevOps, and engineering processes.

Responsibilities
Work closely with internal research teams to identify and understand discrete threats to online services.
Work with our data platform to collect and analyze security data to identify actionable insights.
Create data products to identify, prioritize, and drive action across the company to mitigate key security risks.
Helping drive teams to deliver competitive online services with world class security across all organizations.
Deliver impact while fostering strong and inclusive collaboration with engineering teams and partner teams across Microsoft.
Understand the threat landscape and define security risk and remediation guidance.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
o OR equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience defining data and utilizing it to achieve business objectives.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with foundational Azure services (compute, storage, document DBs, cache, networking).
Experience contributing to team planning, estimation, and prioritization. Experience mentoring developers.
Experience in securing online services and general security concepts.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
