The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide.
We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.
The Cloud Manufacturing Operations and Fulfilment (CMOF) organization within CSCP manages manufacturing operations and fulfillment of IT hardware for Microsoft’s data centers worldwide. We are looking for a Technical Program Manager for our Supply Chain Readiness Engineering team.
A well-defined and executed supply chain ensures reliable performance, optimized cost, manages unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base. Responsibilities
We are looking for a passionate, high-energy supply chain Technical Program Manager to help build and create sustainable advantages through supply chain efficiencies.
With a technical program management and process improvement mindset, this role is responsible for delivery of Cloud capacity. The role is 50% focused on managing deployment execution and 50% on Design for Excellence improvements driving operational efficiency and optimized service delivery.
Roles and responsibilities:
Drives deep analysis of deployment progress, blockers, and incidents by leveraging existing tools, reports and creating new reports and dashboards through Microsoft based tools (e.g. Power BI)
Develops a deep understanding of the workflows in the system as well as the actual work required by data centers and engineering groups.
Leads initiatives to enhance processes and drive standardization against mainstream deployments
Owns metrics and analytics that show the performance of the deployments against goals, as well as trending
Project managing deployments including servers, network, storage, and supporting infrastructure
Owns hitting specific cycle time and lead-time goals regarding delivery of the capacity throughout the process Drives deep analysis of deployment progress, blockers, and incidents by leveraging existing tools, reports and creating new reports and dashboards through Microsoft based tools (e.g. Power BI)
Makes data-driven decisions and speaks to key stakeholders in terms of data-driven stories
Utilizes enhanced tooling, reports and dashboards to drive daily and weekly triage of blockers in the system as well as predictive indicators for demand to be on track
Develops and drives strategies to manage deployment demand through the workflow management system in alignment with organizational goals related to throughput and cycle time
Drives process standards and common methodologies for various physical and logical deployment activities such as network cabling installation, procurement, docking coordination, network provisioning, etc.
Collaborates closely with data center PM’s and Engineering groups as a part of process enhancements
Develops engineering requirements and collaborates with partner software engineering teams to develop automation within the deployment process
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
OR equivalent experience.
1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team project
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of Supply Chain principles - Planning, Sourcing and Delivering Six sigma experience a plus
3+ years industry experience in enterprise process engineering in a complex cross-functional matrixed environment, technical program management, and Infrastructure deployment operations
MS in Engineering or Computer Science or Supply Chain or equivalent experience 2+ years industry experience in product/process Design for Excellence with emphasis on operational optimization at scale
Experience with data analysis/presentation, SQL and Power BI or equivalent skills and knowledge
Demonstrated technical problem solving and excellent analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail
Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with rapidly changing requirements
Understanding of process engineering and optimization, including gathering, analyzing, and defining business and functional requirements; creating global metrics, trend charts and other decision-making tools.
Well versed in project management methodologies, approaches and tools with a PMP certification preferred Expertise in deployment of high-performance, highly available, large scale distributed network and related technologies
Proven track record of partnering with software engineering teams to drive improvements in tooling and automation
Understanding of process engineering and optimization, including gathering, analyzing, and defining business and functional requirements; creating global metrics, trend charts and other decision-making tools
Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
