The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a versatile and innovative Research and Development Engineer to join our team, focusing on tactical hardening for quantum technologies, particularly in the area of PKI migration from legacy to Post-Quantum systems. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of skills and be able to work independently on various aspects of our projects.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of post-quantum cryptography implementation, focusing on practical applications and testing in tactical environments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable wearing multiple hats and adapting to the diverse challenges presented by this cutting-edge field.
Responsibilities:
Lead efforts in PKI migration from legacy to Post-Quantum systems.
Set up, configure, and modify both Linux and Windows systems as required for testing and development.
Design, execute, and debug tests to evaluate product capabilities and compare different solutions.
Develop and implement ad hoc testing procedures as needed, demonstrating creativity and initiative.
Perform software development and scripting tasks to support project goals.
Prepare comprehensive reports on test results and system evaluations.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate hardening measures into quantum-resistant systems.
Contribute to the configuration of test networks, particularly those mimicking Army tactical networks.
Qualifications:
Required:
Active Secret clearance is required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of software engineering experience with Master's degree or 15+ years of experience with Bachelor's degree in the related field
Familiarity with Army tactical networks
Solid background in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is essential.
Proficiency in setting up and configuring both Linux and Windows systems.
Experience in software development and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Strong testing skills, including the ability to design, execute, and debug complex test scenarios.
Demonstrated ability to perform ad hoc testing and develop new test methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively about complex challenges.
Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently, while also knowing when to seek assistance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic understanding of quantum-resistant cryptography concepts (full quantum expertise is not required).
Desired:
Out-of-the-box thinker who can approach problems from multiple angles.
Ability to juggle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
Adaptability to learn new concepts quickly, especially in the rapidly evolving field of post-quantum cryptography.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$89,500-$188,000
