CYOS Solutions DevOps Engineer (Automation Developer) in Remote, Australia

Working arrangements: Candidates will work from Services Australia's office with flexible working from home arrangements granted on a case by case basis.

Length of contract: 12 Months

Contract extensions: 2x 12 months

Security clearance: Ability to obtain Baseline clearance

Rates: $70 - $90 per hour (inc. super)

Services Australia is responsible for the facilitation of many government services to the Australian public, one of these services is the ability to provide proof of identity when interfacing with government agencies online.

The Connection, Identity and Authentication Branch plays a significant role in the delivery of the agency's agenda, with mature use of agile processes. Our focus is to organise and prioritise our people to meet the priorities of government while applying governance and discipline to our delivery approach. We partner with the broader technology sector and academia to identify, develop and position emerging technology capabilities, consolidation and streamlining of our technical environment, and to drive the development of a highly skilled and professional workforce ready to deliver on this evolving future.

The role will place you as a Senior Automation Developer within the myGov ecosystem The Senior Automation Developer engages in the design and the development of high quality solutions in support of business and technical automation test requirements. The role solves highly complex application problems, as well as building change automation requirements as part of the sprint cycle. The Senior Automation Developer exercises a considerable degree of independence and undertakes knowledge sharing and coaching of junior staff.

myGov is considered to be a critical piece of national infrastructure. The role may be focused on a number of areas, such as:

  • myGov mobile and web applications

  • myGov operational processes

  • myGov content

The role will involve having or the ability to gain knowledge of Services Australia's software development lifecycle, tools, services, deployment procedures and cyber security policies as well as industry best practices. You will work closely with Software Architects, Technical Developers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Analysts and Testers with the shared purpose of building simple, helpful, respectful and transparent services for everyday Australians.

Key duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • analysis, design and development of new capabilities within the automation framework.

  • solve highly complex problems and deliver high quality test automation solutions.

  • perform high-level analysis of technical requirements to support automation evaluation with proposed solutions.

  • undertake technical design and development of highly complex custom solutions and/or standard conversion and migration solutions.

  • manage the deployment release and ensure go-live production support and maintenance of the Branch automation changes.

  • proactively share knowledge and expertise as the Subject Matter Expert and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues.

  • ensure compliance with endorsed software development methodologies.

  • provide support to multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high quality custom solution realisation.

  • report on the achievement of business outcomes, key performance indicators and quality assurance in the area of responsibility.

  • prepare and review a range of automation written material which may include technical and corporate documentation.

  • provide detailed, specialist automation technical advice to senior management where appropriate.

  • support automation innovation and lead change.

  • encourage and support continuous improvement.

Primary Knowledge/Skills/Systems/Tools required for role include:

  • GITLAB

  • Selenium

  • JAVA

  • Gattling and Cucumber

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 12 months working experience in an Agile Environment

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Automation Developer

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience/skills in developing Automation frameworks, test scripts, using applications and tools such as, but not limited to: GitLAB, Cucumber, Gattling and Selenium

  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring staff in the use of Automation tools, execution, and reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to develop automation Java scripting of complex test cases.

  • Demonstration of very good communication with a range of stakeholders, from Business/Technical backgrounds to senior management. This includes verbal, presentations, and technical documentation.
