PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $188,700.00-$230,800.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $146,900.00 - $272,700.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As the Director of Technology Architecture for Member Experience Channels (which includes both digital and non-digital channels), you'll be at the heart of our Credit Union's digital evolution, steering our architectural strategies and bringing pivotal change. You're not just managing; you're inspiring and leading a team of architects, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Together, you’ll 'll craft guidelines and designs that shape the way we deliver high-performance software. Your vision will align with our corporate and enterprise architecture, driving the modernization of our systems to achieve strategic objectives. You'll be the bridge connecting IT and business units, creating digital products optimized for agile and DevOps methodologies. Your role is key in building and curating a repository of architectural resources, vital for internal and external stakeholders. You'll champion emerging technologies, collaborating with senior leaders to explore new strategic opportunities, and you'll enhance our delivery capabilities, governance, and performance. Your influence will permeate the organization, instilling a digital mindset at every level.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Partner with business leadership to determine the best options for modernizing our member experience channels (both digital and non-digital) to drive value for our members

  • Leadership Excellence: Encourage and enhance team performance through mentorship, training, and performance reviews, adhering to BECU’s Performance Competencies and compliance standards

  • Strategic Architectural Vision: Develop and refine strategic and tactical architectural designs to boost software delivery and operational capabilities

  • Alignment Leader: Ensure strategic coherence by aligning product and domain architectures with enterprise-wide standards

  • Risk Communicator: Manage and highlight operational and cybersecurity risks linked to technology architecture

  • Best Practices Advocate: Foster a community of practice by publishing and promoting architectural best practices

  • Digital Champion: Drive digital technology adoption and advocate for reference architectures and standards

  • Business Insight Developer: Support and achieve partner business goals by gaining a deep understanding of BECU’s business model

  • Technology Trend Analyst: Assess potential impacts of emerging technologies and industry trends

  • Feedback Facilitator: Implement mechanisms to gather and utilize feedback for continuous service improvement

  • Governance Participant: Engage in key technology governance, planning, and initiative reviews, contributing to the development and execution of the annual operating plan

  • Additional Roles: Tackle any additional duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:

    • At least 5 years of experience designing and implementing systems related to the member experience channels space.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology Management, or a related field.
    • At least 7 years of technology leadership experience, including supervision.
    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in solution design and implementation for large and strategic project teams.
    • At least 3 years in a digital technology project or product leadership role.
    • Proficient in application security and cloud-native security architecture in modern technology architectures (e.g., Microservices/SOA, IAM, CI/CD).
    • Understanding of Lean/Agile/Scrum principles, ITSM, and Cybersecurity SDL.
    • Knowledge of security/risk management frameworks (NIST, COBiT, ISO 27001, ITIL).

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Excellent leadership skills to develop a highly motivated and competent architecture team.
    • Proven strategic planning, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
    • Experience in IT business partnership roles in dynamic, cross-functional environments.
    • Familiarity with architecture practices and frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, Sabsa).
    • Relevant certifications in scaled agile, cybersecurity, or related areas.
