Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Partnerships Manager to manage university engagement throughout our Contract Research organization. This position is located in Mountain View, CA , but will consider remote locations.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Partnerships Manager position is a key member of the contract support leadership team, will report directly to the Site Manager. Responsible for managing our Partnering Ecosystem with NASA, industry, and academia to facilitate engagement in the accomplishment of research and development. Leads student research assistants in identifying literature and studies. Also serves as a conduit between NASA, industry, academia, and our Site Manager.

The selected candidate will engage academic institutions at all levels, from secondary school students to tenured professors, in the conduct of research and development objectives, whether internally funded or funded in support of Federal and commercial customer projects and tasks. This position will engage and support internal and external STEM efforts and university-related career events.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures high quality university engagement in support of research projects, with a focus on engaging institutions, researchers, and students from underserved communities

  • Develops and maintains relationships with academia, government agencies, and national and international industry to plan, develop, and execute research, development, and deployment programs in cross cutting programs across industry, government, and academia

  • Will work closely with researchers and program management to identify areas that would benefit from external partnership with university and industry teams

  • Will establish a database of appropriate teams within the university community and work with Battelle and customer program managers to develop partnership opportunities

  • Will actively seek growth opportunities for the Battelle-sponsored consortium of Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Supporting Institutions and other HBCU/MSIs

  • Support program managers in establishing and maintaining connections to teams in the commercial sector that bring unique capabilities to support projects and mission

  • Collaborate with human resources professionals, recruiters, program managers, and educational institutions to develop recruiting strategies from universities to fill immediate and forecasted program needs

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM discipline with 5 years of experience with academia and industry in the conduct of scientific research and development; Master’s Degree with 3 years of applicable experience or PhD with 1 year of applicable experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in business development – at least 3 years preferred

  • Understanding of and experience with working with academic institutions from a resourcing and pricing standpoint

  • Proven ability to work at the interfaces of scientific fields to promote intradisciplinary work

  • Experience in developing and assessing budgets for task orders

  • Demonstrated business acumen, including significant experience interacting with multiple organizational levels

  • Experience in planning conferences and workshops focused on specific scientific disciplines

  • Knowledge of NASA or a related Government Agency

  • Travel required to other NASA centers and sites, field test locations, and industry events.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in STEM discipline with 3 years of experience with academia and industry in the conduct of scientific research and development.
