Job Title : 2nd Level Application Specialist Proteomics

Division: ULS/IES Career Band : 7 Track : Professional

Reports to: Manager EMEA 2nd Level Technical Support

Location: Europe – Remote

Travel Required: 50-60%

Position Summary:

We are very delighted to announce that we are currently seeking a 2nd level Technical Application Specialist for Proteomics. This an exciting challenge to be part of this new project!

We welcome applications from people who are passionate about this field. As part of the Large Molecule team supporting our proteomics customer you will play an important role in delivering exceptional support to IES teams by helping to define the potential cause of customer challenges. Responsibilities will include providing on-site or remote support using digital tools. You will also maintain close communication with Product Marketing and our EMEA Pre and Post Sales application teams to identify applications challenges. You will be in contact with Support Engineers in the Factories, L2 colleagues to work as team to confirm instrument operation.

Additionally, you will lead complaints, understand customer application, and contribute to the overall success of Service by your passion, your engagement and your behaviour.

Responsibilities:

Support:

Lead complaints and act as the case manager for related product line(s), using skills to communicate in complicated situations, to bring together Thermofisher interlocutors who can make the decisions, then define a coordinated action plan, and obtain the agreement of the various parties. Drive problem resolution with engineering, L2 EMEA colleagues, Post Sales applications and other collaborators to expedite repairs and provide solutions.

Understanding:

Collaborate with service teams across EMEA and other customer-facing groups, applying strong communication skills. Ensure a professional relationship with customers, promoting customer loyalty and handling request issues when needed.

Sharing:

Perform remote or on-site support for repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentations. Use remote tools to support quick issue resolution. Analyze customer data and inspection findings to determine source of issues and provide recommendations for next actions. Share performance of demo Lab instruments to define standard processes.

Responsibility:

Demonstrate expertise in operating Orbitrap Proteomics systems, supporting multiple configurations. Familiar with our materials/consumables to run Hela in various setup. Contribute to new product introductions. Work closely with other L2 specialists and applications teams to drive fast resolution of complaints. Share knowledge with applications Pre and post-sales support to better understand customer challenges. Establish expectations on system capabilities with Service organization.

Foster strong teamwork and cooperation to achieve team goals. Optimize work schedule by coordinating with other specialist in the Large Molecule group for on-site service planning and remote scheduling.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

  • High-school diploma or bachelor’s degree in scientific/technical subject areas such as chemistry, biology, related fields or Hands-on/on-the-job experience with a consistent record in working with LSMS instruments in Proteomics field.

  • Factory trained on Thermo Orbitrap LSMS, Nano-LC is a must.

  • Familiar and confident using our processing Proteomics software. Knowledge on competitors Software is an added skill.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities and communicate clearly.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and general IT knowledge.

  • Excellent interpersonal, self-motivational, and negotiating skills.

  • Demonstrated customer-centric vision and shown success in developing customer and team relationships.

  • English skills, both verbal and written. Additional language skills are a plus.

  • Valid driving license.

  • International travel.
