GE Vernova Lead Engineer - Systems Engineering in Remote, Portugal
Job Description Summary
Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
The DCS Engineer has technical expertise in Substation Automation Systems as well as a good knowledge of Grid Automation products and solutions, providing Application Engineering support both internally and externally and conducts activities related with Protection & Control at integrators and end customer facilities.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Define Systems Automation Solutions and technical architectures
Provide advance technical support and be a trusted advisor to customers
Preparation of project validation documents
Participate in service activities: Factory and Site Acceptance Testing, Technical Consulting, Training, On-site Support and Commissioning
Liaise effectively with customers in job planning, execution, follow-up and sales support, and internally with Manufacturing, Sales, Commercial Operations and Technology teams
Project Engineering and Management for Protection, Control and Automation system
Communicate schedule details, project milestones, manpower requirements, quality issues, and tools/equipment requirements to the appropriate individuals
Work closely with the Grid Automation Center of Excellence
Provide, audit, and implement quality control requirements for assigned activities
Technical Regulations & Standards Leadership
Support Sales & Tendering teams in presales activities and on service offer preparation
EHS Leadership, conduct field work in compliance with applicable regulations and encourage accurate employee safety practices
Qualifications / Requirements
M.Sc. Electronics/Electrical Engineering degree
Proficiency level in Portuguese and English.
Significant Experience in Energy/Utility substation design
Grid Automation P&C and SAS products deep knowledge
Background in Electrical Control Systems and SCADA/DCS systems
Knowledge Standards with emphasis on IEC61850
Ethernet topology and network good knowledge
