Description: A remote Senior Materials & Process (M&P) Engineer job is currently available through Belcan. This is a full-time direct position with benefits. To be considered, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar discipline and five to seven years of experience with commercial aerospace flight hardware. Experience with the complexities of humanrated spaceflight systems and the associated industry and NASA specifications is strongly preferred. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the development and maintenance of materials & process system requirements for hardware associated with extravehicular (EVA) and intravehicular (IVA) activities. EVA activities include environments with significant contamination risks and associated design complexities. This role will involve close collaboration with the customer"s design teams to provide timely support, tailored control plans, and generation of verification documentation. This role will also involve careful control of interface documentation to ensure requirements are maintained and communicated across disparate systems.

Job Duties:

Broad materials & processes support for composite (cermic matrix composites, fiber reinforced composites, polymer matrix composites) and soft goods (e.g. o-rings, seals, lubricants) hardware.

Advise customer on design options including material selection, process control and qualification, corrosion prevention, electrical bonding & grounding, flammability, and toxic offgassing.

Review and propose edits to program documentation, specifications, and engineering drawings to ensure materials & process requirements compliance.

Assist with vendor selection and qualification efforts.

Generate system verification artifacts as they relate to materials & process requirements in support of design milestone reviews.

Required:

Bachelor of Science in Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerosapce Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.

Five to seven years" experience with Materials & Process Engineering in the aerospace industry.

Knowledge of industry standards as related to Materials & Process Engineering (Mil, ASTM, AMS, SAE, AWS)

Demonstrated experience (M&P signatory authority) on a flight production program.

Experience with configuration management and quality management systems.

Familiar with composite, nonmetalic, and softgood materials specifications, properties, and testing

Preferred:

Previous experience with Materials & Process Engineering within the context of NASA human-rated spaceflight requirements.

Previous experience generating Material Usage and Identification Listings (MIULs) and Material Usage Agreements (MUAs) for NASA.

Knowledge of the various NASA standards as they relate to materials and process requirements (6016, 6030, 5009).

Previous experience qualifying materials for crewed systems in terms of corrosion prevention, flammability, and toxic offgassing.

Knowledge of approved material allowables databases (MAPTIS, MMPDS, JAHM, CMH-17, AGAT, NCAMP).

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $110,000 to $150,000.
