Fortive Corporation Construction Cost Engineer in Remote, United States

Gordian’s Cost Research team sits at the front line of critical research initiatives supporting Gordian’s estimation data products. Our Cost Engineers are responsible for gathering information from construction documents about construction materials, equipment, and labor through phone interaction as well as internet research from existing and developed sources across the country. They will need to enter the acquired data into our database, and be extremely accurate with details including rate, start dates, sources, and integrate this data with other relevant engineered information. In this role, Cost Engineers also supports current and future clients from initial contact through fulfillment phases of consulting projects.

Gordian’s Cost Research team is in a high growth phase and looking for engineers willing to enhance their skills, foster new and existing industry relationships, and develop deep insight into construction cost data and trends.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, data entry, updating or enhancing Construction Cost Data

  • Gather specific sets of data on a daily, weekly, monthly basis through phone and internet research in a prescribed time frame and efficient manner

  • Work directly with clients and internal resources to support consulting projects

  • Provide customer support for print and electronic products

  • Effectively apply technical knowledge to solve a range of problems

  • Consistently consider new ideas and methodologies, implement complete solutions, and serve as a go-to for problem solving assistance for others

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction or Architecture

  • 3-5 years of background in construction or construction estimating with an understanding of construction materials are, how they are used, and how they are installed as well as a familiarity with construction standards, codes, and laws (OSHA, Building Codes, Etc.)

  • Cost certification by ASPE or AACE is preferred but not required

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office tools, enterprise systems and the ability and willingness to learn new programs

  • Exceptional attention to detail, the ability to track data quality and results

  • Proven problem-solving skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

  • The ability to manage multiple ongoing projects, achieve deadlines effectively and the knowledge of when to escalate issues

  • Excellent phone skills, and a desire to develop relationships with vendors and other construction related participants (architects, engineers, manufacturers)

  • Able to travel up to 20%

National: The salary range for this position is $61,300- $113,900

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location.
