Position Title: Senior Manager, UX Research & Design Salary Range: $120,000 - $141,000 Department: Vibrant Technology Reports to: VP of Product Location: Remote Schedule: M-F, 9-5 ET

Position Summary:

Vibrant Emotional Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced UX Research and Design Senior Manager to join our dynamic team. This player-coach role involves both individual contribution (IC) and leadership responsibilities as the team is built out. The ideal candidate will have a background in managing / leading a team of designers and UX researchers, with hands-on experience in UXR/design across: both B2B and consumer products, web, data visualizations, and custom tools built on top of Salesforce. The Senior Manager of User Research and Design will play a critical role in building and leading our design team, collaborating with in-house development and design teams, and working with vendor-partners to deliver exceptional user experiences. We are looking for someone passionate about working for a nonprofit dedicated to improving mental health nationwide, supporting both crisis counselors, crisis center leadership, and help seekers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and help build a small but growing team of designers and UX researchers

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages innovation and continuous improvement

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development

UX Research and Design:

  • Conduct and oversee uX research roadmap to gather insights and inform design decisions.

  • Develop user personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs as needed

  • Ensure designs align with business goals, user needs, and technical constraints.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, marketing, and other business functions, to define project requirements and scope.

  • Coordinate with vendor-partners to ensure alignment and successful project execution.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the overall design strategy and vision.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in user experience and design processes.

  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices within the organization.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives and user needs.

  • Present design concepts and research findings to senior leadership and other stakeholders.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.

  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma

  • Experience with user research methods, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analytics.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and research findings clearly and persuasively.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field, or 4 years in liu.

  • 6+ years of experience across both UX design and user research, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.

  • Proven track record of designing and delivering successful B2B and consumer products, web applications, and customer tools built on Salesforce.

  • Experience working with in-house development and design teams, as well as vendor-partners.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user research, interaction design, visual design, and usability testing.
