Architectural Account Manager – Technical Glass Products -

This position is primarily responsible for architectural promotion in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic leading to company and product revenue targets for the territory. The Architectural Services Manager will perform a variety of duties associated with developing, soliciting and cultivating architectural relationships to grow specification rates. In this given territory, the Architectural Service Manager will collaborate with both the Territory Manager (Inside Sales) and the Territory Account Manager(s) (Outside Sales) to provide adequate architectural promotion as well as progressing projects through the sales cycle.

In addition to specific territory responsibilities, this role will provide national support when required for architectural promotion. This support could include but is not limited to architectural promotion outside of the East, National webinars through industry media publications and/or Allegion, Industry related trade shows such as GlassBuild, AIA, GreenBuild, Neocon, or other regional shows. etc. As TGP continues to grow through new products, partnerships and acquisitions, this role will champion product promotion by helping develop accredited presentations for the AIA.

At present, the role will support Architectural activities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic but only be responsible for CRM activity for the Northeast Territory.

As Allegion’s Door and Window Division continues to grow organically and through acquisition, this role will support such growth as the business sees fit.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide consultation to design professionals, including but not limited to, the architectural community and the glazing community in the territory.

  • Collaborate with sales reps and customers in their territory regarding specifications, scope of work, product selection, and the bid process.

  • Manage the bid process by reviewing the scope of work and codes for each qualified job, fielding questions, writing/reviewing and verifying incredibly detailed specifications and notes and ensuring accuracy of CAD drawings.

  • Qualify the quotes in the territory and determine the probability of the opportunity to become realistic into a final sale and develops the opportunity by communicating with the customer to close the sale.

  • Maintain working knowledge of competitors in their territory and the general financial strength of current and potential customers.

  • Manage the Distributor and OEM network of TGP customers in their respective territories to ensure the territory is well represented with the proper distribution channels. Train the sales staff of the distributor and keep them current on changes in codes and products.

  • Finalize the bid process by preparing, processing and monitoring the purchase order with the final scope of work, final specifications, plans and timeline.

  • Respond to online quote requests, CAD drawings, BIM requests and general information requests.

  • Respond to current and prospective customer inquiries regarding glass and framing systems, payment terms, order processes, etc.

  • Manage glass and assembly opportunities and finalized job orders in CRM and engage in follow-up. Responsible for maintaining CRM opportunities and quotes.

  • Travels as necessary and assists with the planning of sales exhibits, makes presentations to customers, architects, glazers, contractors, building code officials, etc. at trade shows, customer offices, etc. to explain glass products and framing systems.

  • Regularly call on all glazing contractors in the territory to develop relationships, establish trust, and create opportunities for product sale. This includes soliciting potential customers (“cold calling”).

  • Travel to all areas of the territory making presentations to groups of 10 to 100 architects/ design professionals.

  • Read and interpret constantly developing technical and specific code information as it relates to fire protection and TGP’s growing product line.

  • Provide professional, prompt, and courteous service to all who inquire about TGP’s products.

  • Stay abreast of all competitor activity in a specific territory, including competitor’s product development, marketing activity, and customer solicitation.

  • Develop new business, define opportunities, and make quick and accurate decisions regarding potential sales.

  • Sort, maintain and manage glass and assembly quotes and opportunities and engage in follow-up by using CRM software program.

  • Update CRM regularly with current information, email and phone correspondence, pricing and opportunity developments, and job-specific notes as required.

  • Use product inquiries to create “Grab and Go” presentations at architecture firms and solicit visits for job-specific meetings as required.

  • Respond to current and prospective customer inquiries regarding products, payment terms, orders, etc.

  • Prepare, process, review and monitor various documents, such as price quotes, job orders, etc.

  • Develop strong awareness of “good” vs “bad” customer and maintain the ability to work with both.

  • Assist with the planning of sales exhibits, makes presentations at trade shows, customer offices, etc. to explain products and systems.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and BA/BS required.

  • 10+ years of sales or customer service experience required.

  • Extensive knowledge of the products and technology associated with glass, fire-rated glazing, vertical and horizontal framing systems, and channel glass.

  • Ability to coordinate work with sales, engineering, and production staff for the efficient and accurate quote generation, order placement and product delivery.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Skill in using computer application software used in generating quotes, bids, proposals, and orders.

  • Skill in making professional presentations to large groups (200 plus) and one-on-one.

  • Skill in delivering professional presentations virtually and training others to do so.

  • Strong team orientation, attention to detail, flexibility, and initiative.
