SAIC Senior Cloud Data Engineer in REMOTE WORK, Virginia

Description

SAIC is seeking a talented, highly motivated, and experienced Cloud Data Engineer for the Cloud Managed Service FinOps solution of CloudScend Foundational Services. As a Cloud Data Engineer, you will help implement, operate, and manage platforms and/or SaaS applications used to provide cloud cost transparency and optimization recommendations. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner who possess a unique blend of business and customer service acumen with technical expertise to be able to capture and understand data requirements and implement solutions. The is a full-time remote job that can be worked anywhere within the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable data pipelines on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Implement and manage cloud-based databases, including configuration, tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

  • Document technical designs, procedures, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure operational consistency.

  • Assess, analyze, and organize raw cloud consumption and cost data from multiple cloud service providers.

  • Transform cloud consumption data for data visualization and reporting.

  • Gain technical expertise on applications enabled by the Cloud Managed Services FinOps Team to perform cloud cost transparency and optimization.

  • Collaborate with Public Sector program (DoD and State, Local, Federal Government) and SAIC Finance stakeholders to provide them with reliable and timely access to the data they need for analysis and reporting.

  • Deploy and integrate cloud cost management applications in customer environments.

  • Maintain data Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure consistent performance of customer-facing dashboards and reports.

  • Apply strong attention to detail to identify errors or data quality concerns.

  • Provide technical demonstrations and operational support to stakeholders and customers.

Qualifications

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability with a Secret clearance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, IT Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field and five (5) years or more of relevant experience.

  • Must obtain a FinOps certification within the first 90 days.

  • Strong quantitative and data analytical skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including services like S3, Redshift, RDS, Azure SQL Database, BigQuery, etc.

  • Experience building batch or streaming data ingestion pipelines.

  • Knowledge and application of relational database and data store concepts (data lake, data warehouse, data mart, etc.).

  • Working knowledge with scripting (JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, etc.), APIs, SQL, report building, etc.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and best practices.

  • Expertise in using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.

Desired Skills / Experience:

  • United States Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

  • Familiarity with IT, financial, and cloud industry standards, frameworks and best practices such as Technology Business Management (TBM) and FinOps.

  • Certification in cloud computing (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect).

  • Familiarity with AWS Cost and Usage Report, Azure Consumption or Cost Management Billing Exports, and GCP BigQuery Billing Export.

  • Experience with ETL tools and frameworks such as Apache Spark or AWS Glue.

  • Broad experience in the IT services industries.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD concepts and applications.

  • Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization techniques.

  • Familiarity with business intelligence and visualization applications (e.g. Apptio, Tableau).

  • Advanced degree in related field.

  • Strong ITIL or Service Management background.

  • Strong familiarity with Cloud Computing principles and high-level understanding of Cloud Service Provider management planes (e.g. AWS Management Console, Microsoft Partner Center Portal or Azure Management Portal, etc.).

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
