As a Power Electronics System Validation Engineer at Generac Power Systems, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our grid-tied power electronics systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute design validation plans, test cases, and procedures to evaluate the performance, safety, and reliability of grid tied power electronics products under various operating conditions.
Maintain detailed records of test results, findings, and validation reports, ensuring traceability and documentation of validation activities.
Automate test case execution using Go and Python in a continuous improvement based development environment.
Hands on setup and configuration of test instrumentation and power generation equipment.
Analyze test results to identify failures, then troubleshoot the issues identified to propose corrective actions to the development team.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, firmware developers, and quality assurance teams, to address validation requirements.
Stay current with evolving industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to power electronics and power conversion systems.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in power electronics system validation and testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with power electronics components such as inverters, converters, and controllers.
Hands on experience with electronics ranging from wiring electrical panels to soldering electrical components onto PCBA's.
Proficiency in Go, Python, or similar coding languages
Strong knowledge of UL-1741SB, IEEE-1547, and other relevant industry standards.
Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and documenting results.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues in a systematic manner.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
