RENTON SCHOOL DISTRICT Preventive Maintenance Mechanic in Renton, Washington

Purpose of position: Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Services, the Preventive Maintenance Mechanic performs skill work on various HVAC equipment, heat pumps, gas furnaces, air-handling equipment, and other systems of heating/cooling devices. In addition, the PM Mechanic will perform preventive maintenance on these systems including but not limited to: Coil cleaning, filter replacement, repairing and replacing belt drives, mechanical drives, servicing dampers, motors, couplings, and other equipment associated with ventilation, heating, and air conditioning. The PM Mechanic will assist in obtaining information used for establishment/management of the computerized preventive maintenance system. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS ? Demonstrate knowledge of HVAC systems and components. ? Repair/replace filters using bulk media, manufactured filters, and other styles in a periodic time frame using computer-driven work orders and standardized work orders. ? Repair, maintain, winterize and provide preventive maintenance and appropriate associated documentation of those actions for the district HVAC systems, cooling towers, and related components. ? May assist other crafts-persons in performance of repairs as directed. ? Assist in development of other crafts preventive maintenance information systems. ? Service equipment including but not limited to lubricating, adjusting, tensioning, as well as other normal trade performance tasks. ? Provide reports and information using preventive maintenance forms, reporting the status of equipment, nameplate data, locations, and other various data required to establish and maintain a computerized preventive maintenance system. ? Conduct periodic inspections of equipment to assist in development of maintenance procedures and practices. ? Read, interpret, and use schematics, blueprints, maintenance and operations manuals in performance of normal duties. ? Maintain regular attendance; adhere to board policy and the mutually bargained leave and attendance terms as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. ? Attend outside training sessions and seminars related to mechanical systems, boilers and hydronic systems in order to keep knowledge current. ? Respond to emergency requests in a timely, organized and professional manner. ? Perform other related duties that may be assigned.
