Noblis Senior Software Engineer in Reston, Virginia

Responsibilities

Noblis is seeking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to support our Intelligence Community team in Reston, VA

Senior engineers at Noblis utilize their expertise in programming languages, software development methodologies, and engineering principles to create and maintain a variety of applications at different levels of technical readiness. Typical development responsibilities include analyzing user requirements, designing software architecture and system components, implementing features, testing, performing code reviews, and documentation. Technical leaders are expected to continuously evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to drive innovation and improvement in software development processes. Additionally, providing technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members to foster their professional growth and development is key to our success. Expertise in areas such as software design patterns, version control systems, agile methodologies, and software quality assurance enables our organization to develop and deliver high-quality software products that address user needs and drive business value.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Noblis, you are responsible for managing the technical direction for projects as well as directing and mentoring others utilizing your expertise and experience. You serve as the technical lead for clients on assigned projects by driving and organizing work towards the client’s goal, as well as communicating technical details, updates, and direction in a concise and comprehensible manner. You calmly manage uncertainty and risks in difficult situations, relationships and problems. You manage diverse teams of software developers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers to create solutions which are both correct and efficient. Your contributions to the organization and our clients are not just your technical expertise, but your leadership and desire to improve processes, as well as yourself and those around you.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field of study

  • 8+ years of experience in production Software Development

  • Ability to lead teams of diverse engineers in collaborative environments to successful outcomes

  • Expert proficiency in one of the following languages: Python, Javascript, Typescript, C++ Expert proficiency utilizing product management software such as GitLab, GitHub, to include code reviews, continuous integration, continuous deployment pipelines, automated testing, etc.

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret with SCI and Polygraph

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in mentoring and growing team member through practices such as code reviews, impromptu discussions, and internal or external presentations

  • 4+ years of managing technical deliverables to include tasks such as: creating and assigning issues, managing scope, performing code reviews, and organizing work into sprints

  • Expert proficiency with REST APIs, web communication, and authentication practices

  • Expert proficiency with one or more of the following frameworks: FastAPI, Vue, React

  • Expert proficiency with tooling development and deployment environments using Visual Studio Code, devcontainers, Docker, and automated lint/test pipelines

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.

USD $109,100.00 - USD $170,450.00 /Yr.
