LinQuest Corporation is seeking a Senior Technical Communication Manager with a technical writing background to develop, implement, and lead a program-wide technical communication strategy. This communication strategy will support game-changing modeling and simulation capabilities for evaluating future warfighting investments and concepts for the Department of Defense. The Senior Technical Communication Manager will focus on the dynamic capture, presentation, and dissemination of knowledge about software systems while the broader team explores and develops leading-edge analytic processes and insights.

The Senior Technical Communication Manager will serve on a broader multi-disciplinary team of operational military subject matter experts, operations research analysts, modelers, and software engineers conducting sponsor-directed studies and analyses using a leading-edge modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) software tool being developed by DARPA. Other applicant requirements and job functions include:

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement program-wide technical communication strategies and plans in support of client-driven outreach.

  • Lead and manage a multi-performer team of technical writers in the development of technical software, system, and architecture design documents.

  • Develop and/or revise documentation, handbooks, and manuals that capture an array of practical analytic, knowledge management, and other processes

  • Support development and/or revision of documentation related to models, scenarios, and/or behaviors developed in the modeling & simulation framework.

  • Capture terms and processes for taxonomy, procedural, and workflow development.

  • Create and maintain study documents for reliability and verification.

  • Capture and organize revisions, references, tests, outcomes, and figures into a coherent narrative or report.

  • An active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Comparted Information (SCI) eligibility is required.

The candidate will be asked to provide a minimum of three technical writing samples during the application process, to include:

1) Software architecture or design document

2) Technical communication plan and/or document describing management thereof

3) Candidate topic of choice

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience as a technical writer

  • Strong, demonstrated Project Management skills

  • Strong, demonstrated leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to create visually appealing and effective PowerPoint briefs, structured assessments, and reports

  • Demonstrated ability to concisely integrate a large amount of varied information into well-structured and digestible written materials

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat tools

  • Effective communicator and collaborator

  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing technical communications plans and strategies

  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing a technical writing process

  • Extensive experience developing technical documentation of software architectures and tools

  • Demonstrable experience leading technical writing teams

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with current SCI eligibility

  • Eligible for Special Access Program (SAP) access

  • US Citizenship

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Master’s degree with 12 years of experience as a technical writer

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or equivalent)

  • Illustration and creative graphic skills

  • Understanding of web-based documentation workflows and management cycles

  • Experience working with classified documents for the Department of Defense or the military Services

  • Modeling and simulation documentation experience

  • Experience writing for research

  • Knowledge Management experience

  • Familiarity with Joint warfighting capabilities, advanced weapons, current and future operational concepts

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with active SCI within the last 12 months

Compensation: Starting salary ranges from $150,000 to $170,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
