Dates in need are 12/16/2024 - 08-29-2025. Farm mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting the machinery and equipment used in agricultural operations. Their job duties include regular inspection, maintenance, and servicing of farm machinery such as tractors, combines, plows, harvesters, irrigation systems, and more to ensure they operate efficiently and safely, diagnosing issues by identifying mechanical problems using diagnostic tools, manuals, or computerized equipment, and determining the necessary repairs or adjustments, repairs and replacement of worn or damaged parts such as engines, hydraulic systems, belts, gears, or electrical systems, record keeping the maintenance schedules, repairs, and parts used to keep track of the history of machinery upkeep, test-driving or operating machinery to verify that repairs have been completed successfully, and to ensure equipment is functioning correctly, electrical and hydraulic work, including handling electrical systems, wiring, and hydraulics in farm equipment, requiring specialized knowledge to troubleshoot and repair these components, performing on-site repairs and emergency fixes in the field when equipment breaks down during farm operations, installing upgrades or new systems to improve equipment performance or adapt it to new tasks or farming practices. Farm mechanics must have strong mechanical\ aptitude, familiarity with farming practices, and skills in using specialized tools and technology for diagnostics and repairs. Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, dairy equipment, and irrigation systems. Excludes Bus and Truck Mechanics and Diesel Engine Specialists (49-3031).
