Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Sr Commodity Buyer.

The Senior Commodity Buyer is responsible for strategic sourcing and managing suppliers for specific commodities. This role involves negotiating contracts, analyzing market trends, and implementing cost-saving strategies. The Senior Commodity Buyer collaborates with cross-functional teams, ensures compliance with policies and regulations, and continuously seeks opportunities for process improvement within the procurement function. Strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and a focus on building and maintaining supplier relationships are essential for success in this role. The Sr Commodity Buyer oversees and optimize the management of assigned commodity within the realms of Sales, Procurement, and Quality. It will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring product quality while driving cost out and profitability
Responsabilidades y autoridad del puesto:
1 Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for commodity assigned, aligning with overall business goals, Global Category Managers and market trends.
2 Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate prices, and ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of direct materials.
3 Identify cost-saving opportunities within the Commodity, focusing on efficient procurement practices and supply chain optimization.
4 Responsible to negotiate pricing/mitigate increases or resourcing as needed.
5 Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for assigned commodities to pursue cost out assigned goal
6 Source/resource suppliers offering the best combination of price, service and quality & manage end to end sourcing process for assigned categories regional and Global
7 Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable terms. Negotiate consignment and/or JIT programs set up with supply base.
8 Independently drives the development of a pipeline of future cost-out projects.
9 Conduct market analysis and research to identify potential cost savings opportunities.
10 Generate and analyze reports related to procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings. Ensures mandatory due diligence is performed and accountable for reporting/tracking savings.
11 Takes ownership of assigned savings initiatives regarding maintenance of projects in the global cost out data base.
12 Uses spend information and category metrics to influence business strategy to address key cost out opportunities
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or specialized degree in purchasing/logistics. MBA Preferred.
3-year or more of experience Preferred in supply chain management
Strong leadership and project management abilities.
Fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
Able to develop/execute a commodity strategy
Strong Communication and Presentation Skills
Understanding of key financial metrics
Results-oriented with a focus on achieving targets and goals
Knowledge and skills in MRP, Kan Ban, Vendor Managed InventoryKnowledge and experience with SAP Preferred
Strong analytical/problem solving skills
Contract Negotiating Skills
Blueprint reading skills
