Job Description: Central Area Fire Management Officer Location: Richfield Job Description: The Central Area Fire Management Officer provides Wildfire leadership and support to the area fire organization and the fire departments in Sevier,Wayne,Piute,Millard,Sanpete,and Juab counties. This key position requires extensive knowledge in Wildland fire conditions and suppression strategies. The Fire Management Officer will represent the State of Utah on interagency incidents as the lead fire official making decisions to ensure objectives are appropriate,safe,achievable,and monitored. Principal Duties:
- Prepare for and respond to wildfire threats in all 6 counties.
- Prepare and deliver advanced training for staff and fire departments.
- Recruit,develop,and supervise a qualified workforce to achieve the mission.
- Represent the division in interagency committees and Richfield Interagency Dispatch Center.
- Work with elected officials to develop solutions to evolving wildfire incidents.
- Maintain advanced NWCG wildfire qualifications and arduous fitness standards.
- Respond to wildland fires to provide leadership and command.
Ideal Cancidate:
- Proven management and leadership skills to oversee a complex fire program.
- Self-motivated,forward-thinking,and confident to lead an interagency fire program.
- Ability to manage all aspects of personnel management,expense and budget tracking,fleet planning,employee development,and succession planning.
- Advanced computer skills,ability to complete reports and agreements,and ability to present strategic proposals through documents or oral presentations.
- Proven command presence within the wildland community and state government.
- Able to make complex management decisions under stress and recognize the wide-ranging impacts of decisions.
- Work independently within the agency policy framework and industry standards for service delivery.
