At Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. To achieve our mission, we need exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help us reduce risks on the Hanford Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. Our Communications team is seeking a Co-Op Business (Intern): Communications Specialist to assist in producing strategies, products and events to increase awareness of, understanding of and confidence in the Central Plateau Cleanup Company's efforts to deliver on its cleanup mission at the U.S. Department of Energy's Hanford Site. Products include, but are not limited to, articles, photos, social media content, slideshow presentations, posters, fact sheets, communications plans, videos, news releases and tours. As the Co-Op Business (Intern): Communications Specialist, your primary duties will include, but are not limited to: * Managing social media content across multiple platforms and monitor post performance. * Creating solutions to complex communications issues. * Developing trusted relationships with appropriate subject matter experts to report on progress and achievements. * Developing key messages and strategic outreach approaches. * Engaging in media relations, community outreach and governmental affairs. * Establishing and fostering positive relationships and image on behalf of the company. * Adhering to and enforce editorial policy and branding guidelines. * Leading tours, briefings or event-planning activities to secure goodwill of visitors, civic organizations, employees and staff. * Developing website content or text for visual communications and marketing materials. * Promoting a team atmosphere to ensure project completion that represents innovative and excellent communication services. Required Qualifications * At least 18 years of age. * Willing and able to work 15-40 hours a week on a Monday - Thursday, 6 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. schedule. * Currently enrolled with either WSU-Tri-Cities campus or Columbia Basin College (CBC), or any online student living local to the Tri-Cities, WA. * At a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate status and enrolled full-time, as determined by the institution. * Maintain an overall GPA 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or greater throughout academic career. * Actively enrolled in a full-time degree program that relates to CPCCo, with emphasis in specific disciplines that support the cleanup mission and aligns with the critical skills and job assignment requirements. * Currently pursuing a degree in: Communications or similar discipline. Desired Qualifications * Strong writing and storytelling skills. * Understanding of social media strategies and platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn. * Experience with Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite.
