Job Responsibilities/Duties
Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) seeks a Shift Operations Supervisor. The Supervisor will join the 242-A Evaporator, which is a 24/7 operating Hazard Category 2 Nuclear facility that receives and boils liquid tank waste to evaporate water and reduce the volume of waste stored in Hanford's underground tanks.
The 242-A Operations organization consists of approximately 6 Shift Managers and 22 Operators. This position, 242-A Shift Supervisor, will report to the 242-A Operations Manager and perform duties as a Field Work Supervisor (FWS) and Shift Manager (SM) when necessary and focuses on Conduct of Operations while maintaining a safe workplace that is compliant with facility and regulatory standards.
The Shift Operations Supervisors duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
Directs crew/shift personnel as assigned by the Shift Manager;
Assist planners and Work Week Manager in determining resource needs for field activities;
Maintain awareness of plant status and field work;
Communicate plant status and issues to 242-A Management team;
Provide status at "Plan of the Day" and "Plan of the Week" meetings and help to resolve resource and schedule issues;
Perform work package review, release, and authorizations;
Ensure facility configuration is maintained/understood;
Ensure the 242-A logbook, turnover checklist and status boards are updated and in accordance with current requirements;
Conduct pre-job briefings to ensure personnel involved in the work activity are familiar with the work scope hazards, hazard controls, precautions, limitations, required training, applicable procedures, and response to emergencies;
Administer the facility LOTO program by acting as the facility Controlling Organization Administrator;
Prepare daily reports and ensuring daily surveillance rounds and data sheets are completed;
Conduct shift turnover meetings and shift briefings to communicate facility status, equipment status, instrument status, work in progress, changes in personnel, restricted access areas, alarm status, tank levels, occurrences, radiological hazardous conditions, and safety information to facility personnel;
Maintain the facilities within optimal operation standards;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Grade 18:
Bachelors (BA/BS) degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field; and
Eight (8) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Grade 19:
Bachelors (BA/BS) degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field; and
Nine (9) years of related experience, to include a minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Nuclear Operations either on a Department of Energy site or commercial site.
Previous experience with DOE, DNFSB staff and regulators desirable.
Previous experience with the 242-A Evaporator desirable.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $104,175
Hiring Range Maximum: $144,325
