Amentum Plant Engineering Supervisor - Process Feeds in Richland, Washington
The Plant Engineering organization provides engineering oversight, program support, and qualified staff to support the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) mission. Near term support is provided by the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC). The mission includes safely storing, treating, and immobilizing the highly hazardous radiological wastes created during prior periods of nuclear processing at the Hanford Reservation. The Plant Engineering organization and programs provide the framework for executing engineering work. Plant Engineering personnel are responsible for the technical adequacy of Plant Engineering products and decisions.
This position is within the Process Systems team as the Process Feeds Supervisor. This position is responsible for the Plant Engineering oversight of the glass former reagent, auto-sampling, concentrate receipt, and melter feed systems.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Implement Plant Engineering program elements as assigned
Develop, review, concur with and/or assess engineering technical documents
Develop, review, concur with and/or assess management control procedures, technical procedures, or guides
Assess facilities, systems, and/or processes anomalies or degraded conditions
Resolve condition report issues or other similar discrepancies as assigned
Develop or request support to develop engineering products for system or equipment repair or replacement
Provide on-site technical support during preventative or corrective maintenance activities or commissioning
Assist assigned engineers in determining operability and correcting out-of-specification conditions
Ensure the health and safety of self and staff by implementing the principles of Integrated Safety Management System
Ensure that personal conduct of work is consistent with nuclear safety and quality culture expectations
Meet training requirements and maintain qualifications to perform work
Support control of field work in assigned areas, including integration of project activities, repairs, and equipment operations activities
Support operations, maintenance, and commissioning of the WTP Facilities
Remain apprised of operational status and ongoing modification activities
Provide technical review of facility/system related procedures and work instructions
Assist with resolution of design issues necessary to support plant operations and/or maintenance
Review Project design and other documents for operations, maintenance, and testing impacts and providing alternative solutions
Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and project support groups
Ensures timely and accurate oral and written technical reports on assigned activities
Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and lead a small group of Plant Engineers on multiple tasks
Assist groups in organizational goals and objectives within the assigned area of responsibility
Manage daily engineering activities with other Plant Engineering disciplines, maintenance, and operations
Coordinate and direct the work of engineers or other staff assigned to the group
Ensure engineers assigned to the group obtain and maintain qualifications necessary to perform their tasks
Ensure engineers assigned to the group have sufficient resources to complete assignments
Monitor group and individual engineer performance and ensure appropriate communication to management is provided
Conduct employee performance and feedback reviews, goal setting, and other activities related to employee growth and development
Continually upgrade technical knowledge, training, capabilities, and evaluation of assigned personnel.
Provide technical direction, training, and evaluation of assigned personnel
Establish and manage group schedules and budgets ensuring accurate status and timely communications are provided to management
REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or related science from a four-year accredited college or university
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience with at least one (1) year of experience directing the work of others
Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Experience:
Experience in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities
Experience with national consensus codes and standards
Project management
Capability to manage multiple assignments
Planning and scheduling of engineering tasks as well as delegation of assignments
Project change control and risk management process
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual
Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site .
Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,193.03 - $154,255.09 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
